The Sierra Club proudly endorses

Amar Mukunda

for State Senate District 39

Amar Mukunda is a remarkable person. As an entrepreneur he created and sold two companies. As a conflict mediator he initiates interfaith dialogues, and he helped build Roca, a nonprofit organization that works with young people at the center of urban violence, into a large community-based gun violence and addiction prevention program. Amar Mukunda’s solution to traffic congestion on I-270 is dramatic investments in public transportation such as Metro and rail. He also champions creation of clean energy opportunity zones to accelerate decarbonization and create a new base of local employment.

It’s Time for a New State Senator!

The current state senator has for several years blocked passage of the Transportation and Climate Alignment Act, legislation that is a very high priority of Maryland's environmental community. Amar Mukunda will support dramatic investments in public transportation such as Metro and rail. He will champion creation of clean energy opportunity zones to accelerate decarbonization and create a new base of local employment.

Amar Mukunda is also endorsed by the Maryland League of Conservation Voters, Third Act Maryland, and the Chesapeake Climate Action Network (CCAN) Action Fund.
