Amar Mukunda
for State Senate District 39
Amar Mukunda is a remarkable person. As an entrepreneur he created and sold two companies. As a conflict mediator he initiates interfaith dialogues, and he helped build Roca into a large community-based gun violence and addiction prevention program. Amar Mukunda’s solution to traffic congestion on I-270 is dramatic investments in public transportation such as Metro and rail. He also champions creation of clean energy opportunity zones to accelerate decarbonization and create a new base of local employment.
It’s Time for a New State Senator!
The current state senator in district 39 blocks important legislation supported by the Sierra Club. We are confident that Amar Mukunda will be a much stronger advocate for the environment.

Raaheela Ahmed
for State Senate District 23
Raaheela Ahmed is a national nonprofit executive and democracy advocate. She has served as the Student Regent on the University System of Maryland Board of Regents, and as an elected member of the Prince George’s County Board of Education from 2016 to 2022. During her time on the Board of Education, she led efforts to address climate change. Raaheela Ahmed supports 100% clean energy, water and air; zero-emissions transportation; eliminating landfill and food waste; preventing artificial intelligence data centers that strain energy and water resources; and environmental justice policies.

Izzy Patoka
for Baltimore County Executive
Izzy Patoka is a planner by training. He was elected to the Baltimore County Council in 2018 and servedas Chair of the council in 2024. On the Council, he led implementation of a public option for campaignfinance, protection of open space, prevention of plastic bag pollution, and improvements in trash pickup.He was the only member of the County Council who voted against an ordinance that restrictedcommunity opposition to data centers. We strongly support Izzy Patoka for BaltimoreCounty Executive.

Evan Glass
for Montgomery County Executive
Evan Glass has served as Chair of the Montgomery County Council’s Transportation and EnvironmentCommittee for the past 4 years, during which time he led the Council in adopting important measures toaddress one of the most daunting challenges - climate change. Notably, he led the successful adoptionof the building energy performance standard regulations that builds a pathway to reduce the carbonfootprint of existing commercial and multi-family residential buildings. Buildings make up half of theCounty’s greenhouse gas emissions, 25% each from residential and commercial buildings. He also wasa key ally in removing the M83 - an environmentally damaging highway - from County plans. The SierraClub strongly supports Evan Glass for Montgomery County Executive.
